The Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS) has invited Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Chairman Murad Ebrahim and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Chairman Nur Misuari to the 3-day Bangsamoro Multi-Sectoral Leaders’ Summit for Unity and Solidarity to be held at Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao City on December 6-7, 2016.

The Provincial Training Heads of BDA-CenMin expressed their commitment of continuing support to Bangsamoro Development Agency-Central Mindanao (BDA-CenMin) during the Trainers’ General Meeting held at Jasmin Street, Rosary Heights 6, Cotabato City last Thursday, December 1, 2016, Zuhaira Mangansakan, Information Communication and Learning Officer of BDA-CenMin said.

Moro Islamic Liberation Front Vice Chair on Political Affairs Ghazali Jaafar told Philstar in Davao City that President Rodrigo Duterte wants peace negotiations with the Moro Front to take off immediately.

Geneva Call through its Program Manager, Mr. Chris Rush invited the Moro Islamic Liberation Front to the meeting of Armed Non-State Actors (ANSAs) in Geneva last November 22-24, 2016, where two officers of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) namely, Toks Ebrahim and Dr.  Parido Pigkaulan represented the Moro Front.

After a four-day exhaustive consultation-workshops facilitated by the Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS), participants in the Bangsamoro CSO-Leaders Assembly coming from Central Mindanao, Northern Mindanao and Western Mindanao held in Grand Regal Hotel, Davao City from November 21-25, 2016 declared their unwavering support for the Mindanao Peace Process.

The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) will be conducting more consultations with the public through “peace tables” in able to hear the voices of the grassroots communities and draw recommendations towards the success of the Bangsamoro peace process.

For over a week recently, government security forces have been battling the Maute brothers in Butig, Lanao Del Sur. Scores of casualties from both sides were reported. But the greater damage or suffering has been inflicted on the civilians who were uprooted from their homes.

Contrary to perceptions or accusations of some people or groups, the Moros are not disunited.  We are not fighting each other, Maranao versus Maguindanao, Maguindanao versus Tausog, Tausog versus Maranao, etc. The problems that plagued our communities are virtually similar to those happening in other areas.  Maybe a little frequent but not in volume is true due to the proliferation of weapons in the hands of so many people. Say, for instance, kidnapping. Those taking place in Mindanao, done or suspected be pulled by “Moros”, are too small in number compared to the ones done in Metropolitan Manila alone.

Even in death former dictator-strongman Ferdinand Marcos continues to torment everybody. How much more if he were alive today. But he is already dead and whatever we say he does not hear nor see.  He now belongs to the next world. The punishment for the sins he had committed cannot be physically applied to him. The children who were minor then like   Bongbong, Imee, Irene, and Aimee cannot assume the sins of the father. Surely, Imelda Marcos, the wife and partner in the so-called “Conjugal Dictatorship”, can partake of the excesses of Martial Law.

Last November 7, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed the Executive Order (EO) that would reconstitute the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) which will draft the new Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL). It also enlarged its membership from 15 to 21 thereby providing wider participation from other sectors of Moro society. The more the merrier, as the saying goes.

We never knew that the main reason why former President Joseph Estrada was ousted from office was due to his refusal to heed the advice of the US to forego his all-out war against the MILF in 2000. It is indeed a vital revelation that can affect the narrative of that war! It is straight the horse’s mouth, so to speak!

Promoting close ties and cooperation with immediate neighbors is a sound foreign policy. Its should be pursued and sustained in both its long and short term considerations. There is nothing to lose but more to gain.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (MindaNews/11 Nov) — What will happen to Draft BBL? The question appears simple; but, for Bangsamoro, it is destiny-bound – to paraphrase a classical question, Bangsamoro, quo vadis?
