May 24, 2011 – Abducted Filipino-Chinese Angelina “Soken” Chew Mantigue was released early morning today in Maguindanao town to the Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) of the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

This was the report received by this website from a reliable source.

No details yet were given on the release. However, the source said the safe release was the result of the joint and coordinated efforts of the government and MILF since the search and rescue operation started immediately after the abduction of the victim.

“The joint efforts of the government and MILF had put heavy pressure on the kidnappers and this yielded to the released of Soken,” the source said in a text message, adding “there was no ransom money paid for this release.”

Soken Mantigue was kidnapped from her store “Sams Bakery and Grocery” in Nuro, Upi, Maguindanao at around 4:30pm last May 14, 2011.

Pursuit operations against the kidnappers will continue that is ultimately intended to curb kidnap for ransom group (KFRG) and bring to justice the perpetrators of this kidnapping.

Maj Carlos Sol Jr, Head of the Secretariat of the GPH CCCH together with some counterparts from the MILF CCCH, were the ones who got the Soken. Sol immediately brought the victim to the 6th Infantry Division, Philippine Army headed by its commanding General Rey Ardo for medical checkup foremost.

Said Shiek and BGen Ariel Bernardo are the chairpersons of the MILF CCCH and GPH CCCH respectively.

The successful and safe rescue of the victims showed the effectiveness and good cooperation between the GPH and MILF CCCH.
