Marine soldier gunned down in Zamboanga City

June 12, 2012 News: A member of the Philippine Marine was shot and killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in the coastal village of Zamboanga City.

 

A Lurawan reporter said the incident happened around 1:20 a.m. Sunday at Crispin Atilano Street, Tetuan village and the victim was identified as Private First Class (PFC) Ernesto Singson, 26, a native of Maluso town in Basilan province.

Singson, who is temporarily residing in the village of Maasin, was assigned with the Marine Battalion Landing Team-11 (MBLT-11).

Singson died around 6 p.m, June 10., while being treated at the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

The killers used a .45 caliber pistol to snap the life of the soldier.

Before the killing, the report added that Singson had a drinking session with friends at a bar along Gov. Alvarez Avenue.

Eyed as possible motive for the killing was a love affair. Singson was scheduled to be married last month but has backed out from it and is reportedly having an affair with another woman, the report disclosed.
