BIAF front commander reiterates full support to peace process

June 15, 2012 News: Jack Abbas, Commander of the Eastern Mindanao Front (EMF) of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF), reiterated assurances of full support and cooperation to the current peace process between the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation front (MILF).

Commander Jack pronounced this during his meeting with the Head of Mission of the International Monitoring Team (IMT), His Excellency MGen Datuk Adbul Rahim bin Mohd Yusuff, at the EMF – BIAF Headquarters in Camp Rajamudah, Pagalungan, Maguindanao recently.

“The Eastern Mindanao Front (EMF) – BIAF is fully backing up the policy and whatever decision the MILF Central Committee headed by Brother Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim on the ongoing peace negotiations with the Government of the Philippines,” Abbas stressed.

“We also fully adhere to the Order of the BIAF Chief of Staff Brother Sammy al Mansur to support and cooperate with the ceasefire committees of the government and MILF as well as the IMT regarding the implementation of the ceasefire accord,” he said.

EMF is the biggest Front Command of the BIAF in terms of area of responsibility and strength of forces.

All the Base Commanders, Deputy Base Commanders and Staff of the 108th, 109th, 110th, 111th and 112th Base Command were in attendance during the Meeting.

Said Shiek, Chairman of the MILF CCCH, Toks Ebrahim, Member of the General Staff – BIAF, and Von Al Haq, BIAF spokesperson were also present.

MGen Datuk Rahim expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and the honors afforded to him and his delegation by the Eastern Mindanao Front.

“I am very glad to hear personally the commitment of support and cooperation of Brother Jack Abbas to the peace process,” Datuk Rahim said.

This assurance, he added, will make fruitful and fulfilling  the works of the IMT in monitoring the implementation of the GPH and MILF agreements on security (ceasefire), civilian protection, humanitarian, socio-economic and development.

Lt Col Esmaon, Team Leader of IMT Team Site 1 and Head of the Brunei Contingent with IMT, and Lt Col Abdul, Team Leader of the IMT Team Site 4 in, accompanied Gen Rahim.
