July 29, 2012 – The Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities - Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF - CCCH) had calendared its peace advocacy sorties all-over Mindanao to be undertaken after the Holy Month of Ramadhan.

Said Shiek, Chairman of the CCCH – MILF, said “we will work together with all the existing ceasefire mechanisms of the GPH – MILF Peace Process, our partners on the ground and the civil society organizations in the peace advocacy that will be undertaken.”

With the peace talks between the government and the MILF moving well, advocacy drives primed at strengthening proper awareness, ownership as well as support are indispensible, Shiek stressed.

“Our foremost intention is to help the MILF Peace Negotiating Panel to disseminate to the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) commands on the ground the status and breakthroughs of the peace talks,” he emphasized.

Shiek said the CCCH and all the existing ceasefire mechanisms on the ground must be proactive in the efforts to sustain confidence and trust and promoting the primacy of the peace process and the ceasefire between the government and MILF.

The CCCH MILF Chief shared the successful and fruitful advocacy held at Payong, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte on the status and prospects of the GPH – MILF negotiations being facilitated by the Malaysian Third Party Facilitator.

500 plus GPH – MILF Peace Process constituents and supporters were spirited after the advocacy, even as they appealed for the culmination of the success of the negotiations as soon as possible.

Contingents of the International Monitoring Team (IMT) from the Governments of Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia participated and rendered inspirational messages during the Payong advocacy.

Representatives from the Office of the First Vice Chairman of MILF and BIAF General Staff participated as guests speakers.

Shiek lauded the support and cooperation of the GPH CCCH and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) extended for the advocacy.

“As priority focus, we have calendared for the next advocacy drives to be held in Tangkal, Lanao del Norte, in Maasim, Saranggani, and in Sibugay Province,” he pointed out.
