Dear Esteemed Colleagues of Religions for Peace:

Greetings of Peace!

Religions for Peace Philippines deeply mourns the untimely and senseless death of some of the Hong Kong Nationals as well as our sincere empathy and compassion to the grave trauma suffered by the survivors in the hostage incident.  We declare that the hostage taking incident was senseless and absolutely contrary to the values and traditions we Filipinos dearly lived with.

STATEMENT ON THE DISCOVERY OF UNEXPLODED ORDNANCE (UXO) NEAR LAPOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN MAGUINDANAO

The Philippine Campaign to Ban Landmines (PCBL) views with concern the recent report, initially by UNICEF-Manila, of the discovery of at least 11 pieces of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the vicinity of Lapok Elementaty School, Bgy. Lapok, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao.  This is part of the state of the nation, though it will probably not be included in the new President Aquino’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA) address today.
