KPI holds Peace Building activity in Kabacan, North Cotabato

Kalilintad Peacebuilding Institute Inc. (KPI) in coordination with Community Halal Producers Cooperative (CHaPC) lead by its Chairman Engr.Toto D. Laguialaot , held Peace Building activity thru IPO  Training with the Theme: Unity and Solidarity Towards Peace And Development, on January 9, 2016  at  Prince Town, Lote Kayaga, Kabacan North Cotabato where about 100  participants from different barangays of Kabacan, North Cotabato attended.

The welcome address was led by Engineer Laguailot who expressed his gratitude to the guest speakers and participants and also explained the importance of the training. 

Nasser Mustapha said that about 30% of the Bangsamoro people have negative perception on BBL, and he encouraged them to look at the benefits of the BBL that will bring about peaceful and progressive communities. He also urged the participants to abide and follow the teachings of Islam and have faith in Allah.

Mr. Kamarudin Pedtamanan said, “That all that we want to do should be in accordance with the Nobel Qur’an and the Hadith (Tradition and Practices) of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). All good things that we do are forms of worship to Allah”.

Makadato Pedtamanan on his part told the participants that illegal drugs are very harmful to human’s physical and mental aspects that destroy the future of those that engage on it”. 

Sheik Samirudin A. Bandila, Hafiz and Imam of Masjid Salama lectured on Islam in correlation to the Bangsamoro contemporary struggle. 

Prof. Esmael A. Abdula, KPI Executive Director and BLMI Steering Committee member lectured on issues relative to the theme of the program.  He stressed unity and solidarity as vital factors to achieve peace, and is a stepping stone towards attaining humane Society.  

Abdula emphasized that man’s greediness of wealth and authority or power will lead to the commission of injustice, oppression and exploitation of human beings. “Therefore, we must strengthen brotherhood and spread the essence of love between and among us so that unity and solidarity can be achieved”.

Atty. Haron Meling, Chief Executive Assistant to Chairman Mohagher Iqbal of  Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) gave  updates on the status of BBL in congress. He said that there would be three possible scenarios on the outcome of the proposed Bangsamoro Law.

First, lawmakers may pass a good BBL that is acceptable to the MILF and the Bangsamoro people; second, they will pass a diluted BBL; and third, congress shall not pass a Bangsamoro law. He underscored the importance for the Bangsamoro people to work and do their responsibility through continued support to the peace process.

Sheik Lukman Sultan mentioned the meaning of war and its effects to mankind. “We have experienced several wars before, but now we are in democratic struggle through the peace process”. He also told a story about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

He urged the participants, or their parents to monitor the behavior and whereabouts of their children saying that nowadays there are prevailing propaganda being spread by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS/ISIL) that injects wrong interpretation about Islam on the minds of the youth that will lead to radicalism.  He also warned the participants on rampant drug pushing and addiction in the Bangsamoro areas that have ill-effects to person’s physical and mental aspect.  

The program ended with an open forum.
