BIAF officers manifest their unity, solidarity and support for passage of BBL

CAMP DARAPANAN, SULTAN KUDARAT, MAGUINDANAO- About 40, 000+ Officers of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces-Moro Islamic Liberation Front (BIAF-MILF) from various areas in Mindanao, Sulu, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga Sibugay, South Cotabato, Maguindanao, Ranao, Davao Region, and Sultan Kudarat have assembled here from May 7-8, 2018 in manifestation of their unwavering support for the enactment of Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) drafted by the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC).

In a Press Release issued at the culmination of the assembly by BIAF Chief of Staff Sammy Al-Mansoor, he said, “Today, the more-than-42,000 strong officers of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) have assembled in Camp Darapanan to manifest their unity, solidarity and support to the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) drafted by the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC).

“As vanguard of the Bangsamoro struggle and protector of the Bangsamoro People, the BIAF firmly believes that the BBL is the solution to the Bangsmaoro Question and affirms its loudest and clearest support to the immediate passage of the BBL”, Al-Mansoor added.

Al-Mansoor said that, “The BIAF also believes that the BTC-drafted BBL would build legitimate institutions that would guarantee inclusive growth, increase participation in the political and economic and decision-making, as well as guard against interests that are inimical to social, political and economic empowerment of the Bangsamoro.”

“Even as the BIAF is in its highest level of optimism, it is worried that a prolonged delay or non-passage of the BBL would breed negative sentiments and frustrations. Already, violent extremism and other form of lawless violence have appeared in the land as manifestations of some groups’ frustrations and grievances against the peace process and the MILF and BIAF have undertaken with the Government of the Philippines (GPH),” Al-Mansoor continued saying.

“As such, this assembly of BIAF officers, men and women alike, is a fitting demonstration of our adherence to the chain of command and our readiness at all times as the vanguard of the revolution,” Al-Mansoor said.
