BBL passage assured despite senate leadership change

PASAY CITY. May 22, 2018. The House of Senate assured Bangsamoro Basic Law’s (BBL) passage despite leadership change.

Sotto’s assumption came after he was nominated by his predecessor Sen.  Aquilino " Koko " Pimentel III who resigned to save the institution from being divided along partisan politics.

The assurance by the Senate leadership was made in the presence of officials of Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) led by MILF 1st Vice Chairman Ghazali Jaafar, MILF Peace Implementing Panel Chair Mohagaher Iqbal, and other stakeholders who jump packed the Senate Session Hall that witnessed the leadership change ahead of the Committee’s Interpellation of Senate Bill 1717 (BTC crafted Bangsamoro Basic Law) relative to the wish of President Rodrigo R. Duterte to pass it before May 31 or before congress goes on break.
