Information-Drive Campaign on BOL held in Tandubas Island Village

TANDUBAS TAWI-TAWI- December 15. 2018. Remote Island Villages of Tandubas, Tawi-Tawi were the latest among the areas visited by Peace Advocates Group from mainland Tandubas to inform the Bangsamoro residents on the significance of Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) that included Barangay Tandubatu on Friday December 14. 

Elated by the cordial welcome by the local folks mostly Seaweed Farmers and Fisher folks, the Peace Advocates and Community organizers headed by Hadji Hasmin Hiya along with some members of Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF-MILF) of the 113th Base command, and an Officer from Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) held information-drive campaign to enlighten residents on the benefits of the BOL, that many of them do not fully understand.

In her welcome message, Hadja Taiba Antam, Chairwoman of Barangay Tandubatu of Tandubas Municipality expressed her gratitude to the peace advocates for visiting their remote village to share information about BOL.

Municipal Councilor of Tandubas Hadji Jamal Antam, husband of Chairwoman Antam pledged to fully campaign for the Yes Vote in their community to the extent that on several occasions the couple even lent their motor launch (wooden vessel) to peace advocates for their inter-island campaign on BOL plebiscite.         

Mr. Tirso S. Tahir, an Officer from Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) who in the past has conducted series of advocacies and forum in the Bangsamoro far-flung communities gave lecture on BOL by elucidating its salient provisions through the use of local ‘Sinama’ dialect for villagers to easily understand. 

“What we need most for our community is potable water, electricity, community hospital and Madrasa. We hope and pray with the upcoming of Bangsamoro Government, these problems can be addressed,” Chairwoman Antam stressed during the campaign. 

I am hoping that the upcoming Bangsamoro Government can provide sustainable livelihood and improve basic services for the people in this this remote community, Councilor Antam said

The information-drive campaign was hosted by the Antam couple.

 In his closing message, Brother Saliakram Adduh expressed his profoundest gratitude to the Antam couple for the warm welcome extended to Bangsamoro noble cause, and to Tandubas Peace Advocates Group.
