BARMM Athletic Association reaps Gold Medal in Palarong Pambansa 2019

DAVAO CITY – Rozikan Balli won the first and second gold medal for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Athletic Association in a “long jump” and “triple jump” competition elementary level category. Rozikan was consistent and determined to reap a gold medal to give honor to the new autonomous Bangsamoro government.

“Alhamdulillah,” or “All praises to Allah” exclaimed Rozikan in joy after he heard the result of Palarong Pambansa record in long jump that he had won the game. 

Another third gold medal for the special events won by a swimmer Abdullah Lumangal from Kabalukan National High School, Maguindanao province.

As of this writing, there are three gold medals won by Mighty BARMM Athletic Association in the 2019 Palarong Pambansa.

Fearless Taekwondo players Sittie Norhaliza Macapendeg and Carl Jonsen Ong of BARMM also contributed additional silver medals in Taekwondo Mix Pair Elementary Category.

Another Taekwondo players Danielle Bianca Miso Eliezza and Rovic Jones Nitre who also kicked for second place; and Jane Cabigona, Ricco Teraytay, Sidh Luther Mamasabulod for third place in Taekwondo. 

Among of the most promising sports witnessed by their fans was the formidable guts and extraordinary heroism of Sultan Kudarat Maguindanao Football Club (SKMFC), the elementary football team of BARMM Athletic Association which rampaged the National Capital Region (NCR) Football Team in an excruciating football match on Monday, April 29 held at UP Sports Complex, Mintal, Davao City with a close score of 2-1.

The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MHTE) social media page described both teams were aggressive and determined to take the lead at the first half. 

It said that “victory-thirsty, Zilamen Guimad of BARMM kicked as the first scorer at 1:39 of the game.” 

The NCR ferociously strived to tie the score at the 20:13 of the game. The first half ended with the score of 1-1.

The game got even more intense during the second half. Both sides of the field released powerful kicks and at 36:32 of the second half, BARMM finally took the lead courtesy of Jeremy Lipusen who flawlessly driven his unstoppable kick, that made the NCR crawl to follow their lead at 2-1. 

The NCR combined their wits and skills to climb up and take the lead, but the invulnerable defense and strategic plan of BARMM to win the said match were just unstoppable and undeniable. In the end, BARMM footballers prevailed as the winner.

The Bangsamoro football players won bronze medal last Palarong Pambansa held in Antique and Ilocos.

Meantime, the BARMM also won as 1st Runner Up in the overall Larong Pinoy of 2019 Palarong Pambansa held at Davao City National High School on April 27.

Iconic legend Jairulla Jaitulla, a Sama of the Muslim Mindanao Region from Basilan, visited the delegates in its billeting quarter at Don Juan dela Cruz Central Elementary School in Toril, Davao City.

Jaitulla was once in various sports pages of local, provincial and national tabloids as an international athlete. He was medalist in ASEAN, SEA and Olympic Games in swimming. His astounding achievements and humble attitude push him to be a national pride.

"Hindi hadlang ang kahirapan sa pagkamit ng pangarap (Poverty is not a hurdle in achieving your goal),” Jaitulla said in his message to the athletes, coaches and officials of BARMM together with the teaching forces of the billeting School.
