Bangsamoro mourn death of former Senate President Pimentel

COTABATO CITY — “The Bangsamoro people joins the nation in mourning the death of the Senate President,” said Ahod Balawag Ebrahim, the Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and Chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), in his message of sympathy on the passing away of former Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr.

Pimentel died due to complications of a lymphoma, a group of blood cancers that develop from lymphocytes that is a type of white blood cell, in an undisclosed hospital in Manila in the morning of Sunday, October 20.

“Senator Nene will forever be remembered by the Bangsamoro people for his significant contributions to finding genuine solution to the Bangsamoro problem,” Ebrahim said.

Ebrahim acknowledged Pimentel as among those “who worked very hard to attain peace in Mindanao until the recent conclusion of the peace process.”

Pimentel was 85 years old when he died.
