NGO to host webinar on Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020

A non-governmental organization will host on September 15, 2020 (1PM) a webinar on the recently enacted Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 which has drawn questioning on its constitutionality.
INCITEGov, a policy research and advocacy center, invites anyone who wants to listen in a discussion on Republic Act 11479, also known as “An Act to Prevent, Prohibit and Penalize Terrorism, thereby repealing Republic Act No. 9372, otherwise known as Human Security Act of 2007.”

The event will try to examine the impact of the anti-terror law on Muslims in the country.

The organizer has invited resource persons during the discussion namely Rep. Amihilda Sangcopan (AMIN Partylist), Atty. Mel Sta. Maria, dean, Far Eastern University Institute of Law) and Moro human rights lawyer Algamar Latiph.

“Thirty-one (31) petitions have been filed before the Supreme Court so far questioning the constitutionality of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020. Five of these came from the Muslim community,” INCITEGov said in its post at Facebook.

To join the webinar, one should register at bit.ly/2FbbO0G. However, those who will fail to attend may view the recording at the facebook page of INCITEGov (fb.com/INCITEGov) starting Sept. 16, 5 p.m.
