BARMM-Darul Ifta issues religious guideline regarding Covid-19 vaccination

The Darul Ifta of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) issued on Saturday (March 6) a religious guideline citing vaccine for healing and preventive measure in general is Halal (permissible).
Abuhuraira Udasan, Mufti of the Bangsamoro, said in a video message, “The Darul Ifta of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao sees that vaccine for healing and preventive measure, in general, is lawful (Halal) on the basis of the verse of the Glorious Quran which goes like this ‘O you who believe take your precaution (An-Nisa: 71),’”

He added,” On the issue of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine, it is the Health Authority who has the final decision, whether it is safe to get vaccinated or not. The Darul Ifta holds the saying of the Messenger of Allah (Peace upon him) that goes like this: ‘Leave what you doubt in it, to what you have no doubt in it’."

As of March 7, 2021, the total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Bangsamoro Region is 4,117 with 91 active cases. Of these, Lanao del Sur and Marawi City have a total of 46 cases, 16 in Maguindanao and 10 in Sulu.

The BARMM Ministry of Health continues to urge the public to heed the minimum health standards to beat the Covid-19 virus in the region.
