MPW invests P226-M in Lanao del Sur infra

The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has launched a significant infrastructure development program in Lanao del Sur's 2nd District, totaling P226,338,204.73. The initiative, which includes a diverse range of projects, was officially signed into contract on October 25,  signifying a commitment to strengthening connectivity and enhancing public services in the province.
Funded through a combination of regular infrastructure programs, special development funds, and the Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF), the projects encompass road construction and concreting, a new bridge in Barangay Proper Uyaan, Madamba, and the development of a staff house for the MPW’s 2nd District Engineering Office in Malabang.

“This is not just an ordinary contract signing. It’s the start of delivering a promise to the Bangsamoro people, a result of our collective struggle, sacrifices, and negotiations,” said MPW Deputy Minister and OIC-District Engineer Abdul Maomit Tomawis.

He stressed the importance of efficient implementation, emphasizing that these projects are being closely observed by both local and international stakeholders as part of the BARMM's commitments.

“In MPW-LDS 2nd DEO, almost all our projects for 2024 have been fully procured, and contracts have been secured with contractors,” Tomawis added, highlighting the agency's progress in securing crucial infrastructure development.

Imran Malawani, representing BJMA Construction, echoed this commitment from the contractors' side, saying, “We will work diligently to implement everything properly to fulfill BARMM’s vision," in Filipino.
