Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte -- The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), through its Older Persons and Persons with Disability Welfare Program (OPPWDWP), today demonstrated its commitment to the welfare of the elderly by conducting a house-to-house distribution of 'hadiyah' (gift) packages and assistive devices to indigent senior citizens in the municipalities of Sultan Mastura and Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.

 

The 'hadiyah' packages, designed to provide essential healthcare support and promote independence, were distributed to bedridden elderly individuals. Each package included a comprehensive range of items, such as a digital blood pressure monitor, finger pulse oximeter, temperature scanner, pillbox, disposable face masks, liniment oil, rubbing alcohol, adult diapers, hot and cold compress device, talcum powder, mentholated rub, wooden back scratcher, powdered milk, socks, a towel, burn ointment, povidone-iodine, gauze bandage, surgical tape, cotton balls, bandages, and tissue rolls.

 

In addition to the 'hadiyah' packages, MSSD also distributed assistive devices, including quad canes, single canes, and adult walkers, to qualified elderly individuals to enhance their mobility and overall comfort.

 

"The OPPWDWP recognizes the importance of supporting and protecting the rights of older persons and persons with disabilities, ensuring their well-being and improving their lives," said the MSSD spokesperson, highlighting the program's commitment to inclusivity.

 

The house-to-house distribution was led by OPPWDWP Focal Person Jaymar C. Sali, alongside Social Welfare Officer I Mahatma Edris Mamantal and Admin Assistant III Cris Benedict L. Antoyan.

 

This initiative underscores the MSSD's dedication to providing essential support and care to the elderly, ensuring their dignity and well-being within the Bangsamoro region.
