CotSU receives new dormitory building from MBHTE

Cotabato City -- The Cotabato State University (CotSU) celebrated another milestone on January 23, 2025, with the official turnover of a newly constructed dormitory building funded by the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The new student housing facility, located at the CotSU campus, represents a major investment in the future of the university and its students. It will provide safe, comfortable, and affordable accommodation, particularly for students from remote areas of the region.

"This dormitory is a testament to the commitment of the MBHTE-BARMM to improving access to quality education in the region," said Engr. Zubair Guiaman, Chief of the Education Facilities Section of MBHTE.

"It is a manifestation of the university's development and a vital step towards providing a supportive and conducive learning environment," Guiaman said.

The ceremony, which included a ribbon-cutting and key handover, was graced by Mohagher Iqbal, Minister of the MBHTE, who delivered the keynote address.

Iqbal emphasized the crucial role of quality education in fostering individual and societal progress. He highlighted the importance of various factors contributing to quality education, including competent teachers, adequate facilities, and a peaceful learning environment.

CotSU President, Dr. Sema Dilna, thanked the MBHTE-BARMM for their support.

"As a state university, we are fortunate to receive support from both Region 12 and the BARMM," said Dilna.

"This dormitory is a tangible example of the collaboration between these entities and will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and success of our university," Dilna said.

The dormitory is expected to be ready for occupancy by the next semester, providing much-needed housing for students and alleviating housing concerns for many. This will allow students to focus on their studies and engage more fully in campus life.

The event was a significant moment for CotSU, marking a significant step forward in its mission to provide quality education and better facilities for its students. It underscores the commitment of the MBHTE-BARMM to supporting higher education in the region and fostering a brighter future for the Bangsamoro.
