MILG conducts comprehensive budget management training for SGA officials

The five-day training, held at Acacia Hotel from February 4 to 8, aimed to provide essential insights and practical knowledge regarding the management, allocation, and effective utilization of National Tax Funds.
MILG SGA Field Office Head Zaiton L. Abas emphasized the importance of educating newly formed municipality officials about the annual budget preparation process, stressing that it will enable them to allocate funds for critical projects requiring immediate action.
"We are here to learn about proper budget allocation for important projects that we want to provide for our municipalities," said Abas.
"MILG, under the leadership of our Minister Atty. Dumama Alba, will provide full support to you," he said.
MILG Director-General Khalid Dumaga discussed the Local Budget Process for Retooling, highlighting the requirement for Local Budgets to operationalize approved local development plans.
Warlita Calderon, a Senior Administrative Assistant II and former Midsayap Municipality Budget Officer, led a discussion about the Guidelines on the Preparation of LGU Annual Budgets, emphasizing the importance of allocating funds according to the law.
"You all have the power to allocate a budget in support of your projects and other expenses, but always make sure that you do your budgeting or spending in a right way," Calderon underscored.
The event included workshops on various LBP forms, presentations of draft annual performance budgets per LGU, and a sharing session where participants discussed their learnings.
The training concluded with the distribution of certificates to the resource speakers and participants, equipping the newly appointed officials with the necessary knowledge to effectively manage public funds for the benefit of their communities.
