KADAYANGAN, SGA-BARMM – A decade-long clan war, or "rido," that claimed lives and destroyed property in the Special Geographic Area of the  Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (SGA-BARMM) has finally come to an end.  The peaceful resolution was achieved through a dialogue facilitated by the BARMM government on Tuesday in Kadayangan town. 

The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) spearheaded the reconciliation meeting, bringing together the warring families for a shared meal and extensive discussions focused on building lasting peace.

"This initiative aims to build stronger community ties and foster long-term peace in the region," MPOS Minister Hussein Muñoz said in a statement released Wednesday.  He expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders for their collaborative efforts in achieving this breakthrough.

Minister Muñoz, who also serves as a BARMM parliament member, specifically acknowledged the crucial role of co-parliamentarian Kellie Antao in championing dialogue, unity, and ethical leadership.  

Antao emphasized the shared responsibility of peaceful coexistence within BARMM.  

"My office is always open to supporting peace initiatives like this 'rido' settlement," Antao affirmed.

While the families involved chose not to disclose the exact number of casualties and injuries resulting from the decade-long feud, the resolution marks a significant step towards peace and stability in the area.

Kadayangan Municipal Police Chief, Capt. Jose Rey Lopez, reiterated the Philippine National Police’s dedication to supporting the MPOS in its peacebuilding, reconciliation, and unification efforts across BARMM.

This successful settlement is a testament to the MPOS's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) program, which strives to resolve all existing "rido" cases, contributing to a safer, more secure, and peaceful Bangsamoro region.
