MILF raises concerns over PBBM's appointment of non-endorsed officials to BARMM Transition Authority

Cotabato City – The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has expressed serious concerns over President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s recent appointments to the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), arguing that the appointments may violate the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL).
The Luwaran, the official website of the MILF's Committee on Information, published on Monday an editorial outlining the legal and political implications of the appointments. The editorial highlights the BOL's provision that the MILF should lead the BTA, a role earned through years of struggle and negotiation.

The editorial argues that President Marcos' appointment of individuals who were not officially endorsed by the MILF, including the new Interim Chief Minister, Abdulraof Macacua, disregards the agreement underpinning the BOL and weakens the credibility of the MILF's leadership in the transition.

The editorial further states that the move could undermine the stability of the Bangsamoro transition, potentially emboldening spoilers and jeopardizing the gains toward sustainable peace in Mindanao.

The MILF has indicated that it may explore legal and diplomatic avenues to challenge the appointments.  The editorial concludes by urging the government to honor its commitments under the BOL and the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), warning that failure could undo years of progress and destabilize the region.

The editorial's publication reflects the MILF's serious concerns over the recent appointments and highlights the potential for political tension and instability in the region.
