MILF, UBJP leaders meet with Pangilinan, highlight criteria for senatorial endorsements

Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte –  Top leaders of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) met with senatorial candidate Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and his wife, Sharon Cuneta, at Camp Darapanan in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte on Friday, May 2.
During the meeting, MILF Chairman Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim outlined the party's criteria for endorsing senatorial candidates, emphasizing unwavering support for the peace process in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).  This includes adherence to the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), specifically the reintegration of Sulu into the BARMM, the establishment of the Bangsamoro Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Commission, and the enactment of a law creating the Moro Province for municipalities in the Special Geographic Areas (SGA).

Ebrahim, the concurrent UBJP President, expressed gratitude for Senator Pangilinan's past support of the Bangsamoro cause, citing his affirmative vote for the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) and the historic extension law supporting the Bangsamoro Government’s transition.

Pangilinan reiterated his commitment to fully implementing the signed peace agreements and building a more resilient and empowered Bangsamoro region.

The MILF and UBJP leadership extended an open invitation to other senatorial candidates to visit Camp Darapanan before the official endorsement of twelve candidates, to be announced at the MILF’s Annual General Assembly and Grand Miting de Avance on May 7, 2025, an event expected to draw around 100,000 members and supporters from across the Bangsamoro.  The meeting underscores the importance of the MILF and UBJP’s endorsement in the upcoming elections.
