Mastura, Sinsuat proclaimed governor, vice governor of Maguindanao del Norte

COTABATO CITY – Datu Tucao Mastura and his running mate, Datu Blah Sinsuat Mayor Marshall Sinsuat, have been officially proclaimed as the governor and vice governor-elect of Maguindanao del Norte.  The United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) candidates won in the elections held on Monday, May 12.
The Provincial Board of Canvassers announced Mastura, 78, as the victor with a commanding 199,049 votes.  Sinsuat closely followed, garnering 198,233 votes. The proclamation ceremony took place at the covered court of the 6th Infantry Division past 4 p.m. on Wednesday
 
In a statement following the proclamation, Governor-elect Mastura said, "Now that the election is over, it is time for reconciliation, and I offer my hand of peace to my political rivals." 
 
After their proclamation, the newly elected officials paid a visit to Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) chair Ahod Balawag Ebrahim at his Camp Darapanan office to express their gratitude for his support.  The UBJP president played a significant role in their campaign.
 
The proclamation also included the winning candidates for the provincial board.
 
Maguindanao del Norte, created in September 2022 following a plebiscite that divided the former Maguindanao province, now has its first set of elected provincial leaders.  The election marks a significant step in the province's development as a newly established political entity.

Mastura served as member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament from 2019 to 2022.
