Isabela City is under Comelec gun ban during BARMM’s parliamentary polls

The Comelec has declared the City of Isabela in Basilan is covered by a gun ban being implemented by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the BARMM parliamentary elections on October 2025.
According to the Comelec, Isabela City must be covered by the gun ban because it is geographically located in Basilan, which is part of the BARMM.
The gun ban will remain for the duration of the election period, from Aug. 14 to Oct. 28.
“The geographic location of the city of Isabela necessitates its inclusion in the gun ban, although the city is not politically and administratively part of Basilan, and of the BARMM,” the Comelec said.
The BARMM is composed of the provinces of Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Tawi-Tawi and Basilan as well as the Special Geographic Area in Cotabato composed of seven municipalities.
Isabela is a component city and considered as a de facto capital, or functions as the capital of Basilan although it was not officially designated as such, a Philstar report said.
