MTIT spearheads MSME development plan consultations in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism (MTIT), in a collaborative effort with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), held a two-day Stakeholders Consultation for the Bangsamoro Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Development Plan. The event, held on August 27–28, 2025, in Cotabato City, brought together government and private sector representatives to address the challenges facing local businesses.
Participants at the consultation identified and discussed key issues and barriers hindering the growth of MSMEs, fostering a collaborative environment to ensure that the voices of both public and private stakeholders are integrated into the forthcoming development plan. The initiative was supported by various bureaus within the MTIT, which provided essential technical inputs, underscoring the Ministry’s commitment to empowering MSMEs as crucial drivers of economic progress in the Bangsamoro region.

This meeting follows a similar engagement for the Special Geographic Area (SGA) held on August 19–20, 2025, in Midsayap, North Cotabato. The series of consultations is designed to gather comprehensive insights that will guide the formulation of a robust and competitive Bangsamoro MSME Development Plan.

The collected information from these consultations is expected to help local enterprises overcome their challenges and leverage new market opportunities, contributing to a stronger and more resilient Bangsamoro economy.
