Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta' Participates in Regional PDOS-Writeshop Led by OWWA-BARMM

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sheikh Mohammad Taib Pangca announced the successful conclusion of the Regional Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) Writeshop, conducted by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)–BARMM. The two-day event, held at Villa Miranda Event Place in Cotabato City, brought together key stakeholders to review and update the PDOS modules for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

The Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta' (BDI) actively participated in the writeshop, represented by Sheikh Pangca (also known as Abu Muammar MTP) and Ustadz Montaser Paki. During the discussions, Pangca shared BDI’s Fatwa No. 27, issued on December 14, 2021, which addresses "Wife Desertion and Abandonment," as well as his research on Islamic rulings regarding the travel of women for overseas employment.

According to Sheikh Pangca, the event successfully met its objectives, which included:
1. Reviewing and updating the PDOS core module;
2. Integrating the BARMM cultural context into PDOS delivery;
3. Strengthening alignment with national standards under RA 10801 and RA 11641; and
4. Producing a consolidated and revised PDOS guide for OFWs.

Participants came from various BARMM agencies and sectors, including BDI, Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE), Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), Ministry of Health (MOH), Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC), Bangsamoro Planning Authority (BPA), Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE), the academe, PhilHealth, and several travel agencies.
Sheikh Pangca extended his gratitude to OWWA-BARMM for the invitation and opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of the PDOS program in the region.
