Cotabato Province-BARMM synergy gains momentum, draws support from various sectors

COTABATO PROVINCE - The growing synergy between the Provincial Government of Cotabato in Region 12 and the leadership of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) continues to garner widespread support from various sectors and peace advocates.

This collaboration unites a diverse leadership front, spearheaded by Cotabato Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza, alongside senior officials from both the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

Last week, Taliño-Mendoza engaged in high-level dialogues with MILF Central Committee Chairman Ahod Balawag Ebrahim and MP Mohagher Iqbal. The leaders underscored the crucial role of multi-sectoral cooperation in fostering peace and sustainable development throughout Mindanao.

Taliño-Mendoza, who also chairs the Regional Development Council (RDC) 12, is recognized as a strong advocate for the peace process, particularly in uplifting Moro communities within the BARMM and its surrounding regions.

Members of Parliament Kadil Sinolinding Jr., Mohammad Kellie Antao, and Ishak Mastura expressed their appreciation for the Governor's proactive governance and commitment to security cooperation.

In statements released this Tuesday, December 23, the three officials commended Taliño-Mendoza and her constituent mayors for their unwavering public service to the residents of the 63 barangays in the Special Geographic Area (SGA). Despite these barangays transitioning into the BARMM core territory in 2019 and forming eight newly established Bangsamoro municipalities, the Cotabato provincial government has sustained its support for the residents.

Labor Minister Muslimen Sema affirmed that families of MNLF members in Cotabato province are among the primary beneficiaries of the provincial government's public service programs.
