Cotabato City – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has reported P2.4 billion in approved investments for the first two and a half months of 2026, representing 75 percent of the region’s P3.2 billion annual target.
Bangsamoro Board of Investments (BBOI) chairperson Mohammad Omar Pasigan, in a statement, said the strong start reflects growing investor confidence in the region and the clear direction set by BARMM’s leadership. The new businesses are projected to create 926 employment opportunities for the Bangsamoro people.
During its first board meeting on January 22, BBOI approved P1.6 billion worth of investments expected to generate 750 jobs. Key projects included a large-scale agricultural production and farm development initiative in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, which will create 630 jobs. The project aims to boost productivity, enhance food security, and build sustainable livelihoods for local communities.
Also approved during the January meeting was a bulk water supply and treatment facility in Cotabato City, set to generate 120 jobs. The infrastructure will improve access to reliable, safe water while supporting residential, commercial, and future industrial growth in the city.
At its second board meeting on March 4, BBOI greenlit an additional P795.7 million in investments, with projections for 176 more jobs. These projects align with the regional government’s focus on strengthening healthcare, tourism, and agriculture sectors.
One approved project will establish medical and healthcare facilities in Cotabato City and Lanao del Sur, generating 42 jobs and improving access to essential services for local communities. Another investment will develop a resort in Maguindanao del Norte, creating 97 local jobs – a development Pasigan said highlights growing confidence in the region’s peace and order situation.
“The resorts highlight the growing confidence in the region’s peace and order situation,” Pasigan noted.
“Capitalizing on the natural beauty of Maguindanao del Norte, the Bangsamoro government is actively positioning the region as an emerging destination for eco-tourism and hospitality," he said.
Rounding out the March approvals is an agro-industrial manufacturing facility in Maguindanao del Norte, expected to generate 37 jobs. The enterprise will integrate traditional agriculture with value-added manufacturing, empowering local farmers and ensuring sustainable livelihoods.
“These investments are clear proof that confidence in the Bangsamoro economy continues to grow,” Pasigan said.
"This achievement is a direct result of the strong direction and leadership of our Chief Minister, Abdulraof A. Macacua, who continues to guide the Bangsamoro government through the principles of moral governance under the ‘Mas Matatag na Bangsamoro’ campaign," Pasigan added.
Pasigan assured that BBOI remains committed to promoting strategic investments that create jobs, stimulate local industries, and drive long-term economic transformation, reinforcing BARMM’s standing as an emerging investment destination in Mindanao.
