MILF leaders, friends visit bereaved family of demised Atty. Lanang Ali, Sr., praise his contributions to peace process

Sultan Kudarat – Days after the death of Atty. Lanang Ali, Sr., leaders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and friends came to mourn and convey their sympathies & condolences to his family at Gang, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.  Atty. Ali, Sr. passed away last Feb. 10 after years of fighting an illness.

Some of those who visited the family were Sammy Al-Mansour, Chief of Staff of Bangamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF), Toks Ebrahim, Administrative Officer of BIAF, Sheikh Abdulkadir Abdullah of Bangsamoro development Agency (BDA), Atty. Parido Pigkaulan, and others. They were one in praising the achievements and contributions of Ali, Sr. in the Mindanao Peace Process.

Atty. Ali was the first chair of MILF Committee on Cessation of Hostilities (CCH), later changed to Coordinating Committee on Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH), since the peace talks between the Philippine government & the Moro Front kicked- off way back in 1997 at Da'awah Center in Simuay, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

He was also a senior member of the MILF peace panel.

Sammy Al-Mansour said in an exclusive interview said, "We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family of our brother Atty. Lanang Ali, Sr".

"Indeed, he is a great lost to the MILF-led struggle and to the Bangsamoro people as well," the Chief of Staff emphasized.

Abul Khayr Alonto, MNLF leader also came all the way from Marawi City to extend his sympathy to the bereaved family while His Eminence Cardinal Quevedo, OMI, conveyed his condolences through Robert Maulana Alonto, Commissioner of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC), who also came to express his deepest condolences.

Maguindanao traditional leaders, politicians, and some leaders of Civil Society Organizations in Central Mindanao and the ARMM also came and expressed their sympathy.

"On behalf of our family, we would like to thanks all leaders, friends, relatives and ordinary folks for coming to show their moral support and deepest sympathy.  This proved that our beloved father is loved and well respected," said Engr. Muhajiren Ali of BTC-JICA, son of the Shaheed leader.

Atty. Ali, Sr. was 68 yrs old at the time of his death.
