MILF political committees gather at Camp Darapanan for campaign orientation

The gathering focused on political coordination, organizational discipline and preparations for the September 14, 2026 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE). Discussions also emphasized the importance of conducting political activities in accordance with Philippine law, Islamic principles and the rules and regulations of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
Mohagher Iqbal, Vice President of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), emphasized the importance of securing an electoral victory for what he described as "many reasons." He nevertheless stressed that the campaign must remain within legal and religious boundaries, underscoring the need to pursue political objectives through lawful and peaceful means and without violating Islamic principles or COMELEC regulations.
The message was reinforced by the Provincial Political Committee chairpersons, who delivered commitment statements expressing their support for the political direction and their readiness to strengthen coordination, discipline and grassroots organization in their respective areas.
From Southern Mindanao, the Soguda Buayan Political Committee and the Rajah Buayan Bandar Political Committee were represented. They were the only two of six expected Political Committees from the Southern Mindanao area to attend the orientation, while four others were unable to participate.
The orientation comes as the MILF-linked political organization continues to prepare for the BPE, with political organization, grassroots engagement and compliance with electoral regulations expected to be key elements of its campaign.
