Aside from fasting, Muslims are encouraged to devote more time to reflect, meditate, read the holy Qur’an, pray Taraweeh and Tahajud at night and acquire more knowledge on Islam.

Fasting during Ramadhan is one of the five pillars of Islam prescribed to both male and female Muslims who are physically fit.

Muslims who fast abstain from eating, drinking, and sexual acts from dawn till sunset. While fasting, they should not engage in gossips, backbiting, fight, and listening to music and hoped that they will sustain such restraint even beyond Ramadhan.
