BDA-RMO replicates knowledge and skills gained from CD-CAAM Project Implementation

In line with the development intervention of Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA), its Regional Management Office (RMO) in Central Mindanao (CenMin) replicated the knowledge and skills gained from years of experience in the implementation of the Project for Capacity Building for Community Development in Conflict Affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM) from Pilot to Extension Phase.

In an interview by BDA-CenMin Communication Group (ComGroup) dated May 29, 2016 with Engr. Abdulwahid Sendad, Regional Coordinator for CD-CAAM projects and, the same time, Focal Person of Capability Building Program, he said “It is among the priority of the region to replicate the knowledge and skills gained from years of experience in the implementation of the Project for Capacity Building for Community Development in Conflict Affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM) from Pilot to Extension Phase.”

“Particularly, such knowledge and skills are about quality management and production of tilapia, vegetable and livestock in CenMin Region,” explained Engr. Sendad. 

“This activity is an initiative of the BDA-RMO CenMin with the purpose of capacitating local farmers and building self-reliance for sustainable livelihood through the utilization of available resources and volunteer partners,” Engr. Sendad stressed.

Engr. Sendad further explained that the initiative starts from conducting training in every target organized communities which specifically aims to: 

1. Train Farmer Trainers (FTs) in the provincial level who will train Farmer Trainers (FTs) in the municipal and barangay level in the field of Agriculture, Fishery and Livestock;

2. Establish a provincial level Demonstration Farm for Agriculture, Fishery and Livestock in every province that will serve as a local institution for farmers in the area; 

3. Establish strong partnership and collaboration among stakeholders, Farmer Trainers from Pilot and Extension Phase in the Conflict Affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM), Bangsamoro Experts, Community Leaders and Government Line Agencies.

Abdulnasser Akmad, Regional Community Organizers’ Supervisor for CD-CAAM Project said, “This activity already started last year in some part of the region, particularly in Purok Malingon, Biwang, Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat Province. 

“On May 14-15, 2016, the same training was also conducted at Sitio Balas, Barangay Manarapan, Carmen, North Cotabato and other various trainings will also be conducted as planned,” Akmad elaborated.

As described by Akmad, “This training on Tilapia and Vegetable production is part of the program of the agency in Capability Building under its ‘Community Empowerment Program for Sustainable Economy and Livelihood (CEPSEL)’ which was conceptualized based on the experienced of the BDA-CenMin in the implementation of the Project for Capacity Building for Community Development (PCBCD) in (CD-CAAM).”

“Also, this training capacitates local farmers and building self-reliance for sustainable livelihood through the utilization of available resources and volunteer partners,” added Akmad. 

“Furthermore, the activity is part and parcel of the plan of the region to establish a livelihood demonstration farm in every province which will serve as local institution for the Bangsamoro communities,” Akmad explained.

“Finally, to ensure the effective transfer of knowledge, skills and technologies taking into consideration the lessons learned from the experiences of BDA-CenMin along with its implementation of PCBCD in CD-CAAM, the RMO of BDA CenMin selected trainers from among the experts for the engagement,” Akmad further said.
