IMT Mobile Team 3 visits ZC Moro Community

Officials of International Monitoring Team Mobile Team 3 led by Col. Mohammad Zakri Bin Abu visited the village of Sangali, a predominantly Moro Community of Zamboanga City where his delegation was warmly welcomed by village chieftain Haji Alim Saddalan on October 30, in his family residence in the said village.

Other Moro community leaders and Moro Religious Leaders from nearby areas were also present.

Mr. Tirso Tahir from Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) facilitated the three-hour meeting and gave brief introduction and presented the purpose of IMT’s visit.

In his welcome message, Haji Alim Saddalan said that they are very grateful to the IMT and to those who arranged their visit for their unwavering support to the Bangsamoro cause particularly the GPH-MILF Peace agreement. They are also thankful to BLMI and to Mr. Tirso Tahir for his dynamic facilitation and support.

Col. Mohammad Zakri talked on the monitoring aspects of IMT mandates and its designated areas of coverage in Mindanao.

He also emphasized their line of coordination and responsibility along with other GPH-MILF cease fire components and its mechanisms such as the Coordinating Committee on Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) and Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG)

After warm and candid conversations, other related issues and concerns were also raised by the audience and were clarified accordingly.

In his closing message, Col. Zakri appealed to the audience by saying that in the quest for genuine peace and development in your region, one should always have patience, perseverance and adheres to the rule of law by not committing in any unlawful activities, not enticed by lawless elements that can undermine the peace agreement and the security of the community.

The visiting IMT officials were from IMT– Site 3 based in Western Mindanao (WestMinCom) and its mother unit belongs to IMT Batch-11 based in Cotabato city. The IMT-11 is led by Major Gen. Datuk Wira Zamrose Bin Mohd Zain of the Malaysian Royal Armed Forces.

The mandate of IMT is to monitor the implementation of the Tripoli Agreement on Peace between the GPH and the MILF of 22 June 2001 and its Implementing Guidelines on the Security Aspect, Implementing Guidelines on the Humanitarian, Rehabilitation and Development Aspects and Agreement on the Civilian Protection Component (CPC).
