The Integrated Bangsamoro Greening Program (IBGP) kicked off the reforestation effort the province of Lanao del Sur with the planting of 1,000 seedlings of big-leaf mahogany and coffee Arabica on Thursday (Oct 22) at the municipality of Maguing.
IBGP is a flagship project of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE).

The project aims to grow 171.2 million trees/propagules covering about 159,000 hectares in the region’s forestlands according to MENRE’s post in the Facebook.

The activity was carried out by the Provincial Environment, Natural Resources and Energy of Lanao del Sur and the 103rd Base Command Producer Cooperative and engaged the soon-to-be decommissioned MILF-Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) combatants now called Palaw Rangers.

MENRE targets to plant various seedlings in the open and denuded lands, mangrove and protected areas including watersheds, ancestral domains, and civil and military reservations.
