UBJP gears up for Bangsamoro Parliamentary Election in 2025

The United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) held its first ever general assembly in Poona Bayabao, Lanao del Sur on Monday, May 6.
UBJP Executive Vice President Mohagher Iqbal said its principles of moral governance, people empowerment, and service to the people make the UBJP distinct from the other political parties in the region.

Iqbal, the concurrent party vice president for Central Mindanao, said the people should give importance to the gains of the peace process between the Philippine government and the MILF.

He stressed that “what we are currently enjoying has been acquired without the price of tears, sweat, and blood of the mujahideen (freedom-fighters).  

Member of Parliament Abdullah Macapaar, the UBJP chief executive for Lanao del Norte, called his constituents to support the UBJP and its vision. He recalled the sacrifices made by the Bangsamoro people and expressed a fervent desire for the party to assume leadership within the Bangsamoro government, particularly endorsing Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim.

UBJP chief executive for Lanao del Sur, MP Marjanie Macasalong, warmly welcomed all the guests and assembly participants. 

Chief Minister Ebrahim, the UBJP President, stressed the paramount importance of unity within the UBJP ranks, framing the political struggle as a continuation of the historic Jihad of the Bangsamoro people. 

Some 30,000 people attended the assembly.
