BMN, TAF Successfully Conducted Voters’ Education for BIAF-MILF North Western Mindanao Front’s Camp Bilal

COTABATO CITY – More than 100 senior officers of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) at Camp Bilal headed by MP Abdullah "Commander Bravo" G. Macapaar of North Western Mindanao Front (NWMF) together with their family attended the successful Voters' Education Campaign conducted by Bangsamoro Multimedia Network (BMN) Inc. on Monday, January 27, at Camp Bilal, Sitio Kurakura, Tamparan, Munai, Lanao del Norte.
This activity was implemented with the help of the Bangsamoro Parliament (BTA) and Commission on Elections (COMELEC), with the support of The Asia Foundation (TAF) and the UK Government, a partner of the British Embassy Manila.

BMN Executive Director Faydiyah Samanodi Akmad gave the background and purpose of the program citing, “This program will provide you with the right information that will guide you on election day.” She added, “Don't hide, go out and vote for a worthy leader.” 

She also thanked the attendees for their active participation. “BMN appreciates that you took the time to participate. This program is for you, not for us," Samanodi said.

Member of Parliament and Front Commander of North Western Mindanao Front of BIAF-MILF Commander Bravo was also present. He gave a message of support and discussed the challenges and successes of the Bangsamoro in terms of politics and governance.

Commander Bravo emphasized the role of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) and the importance of unity among leaders and citizens for moral governance advocacy of the BARMM Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” B. Ebrahim. He also discussed the history of the Moro struggle and the economic development as dividends of peace including as housing, infrastructure, and energy.

Engr. Misuari "Jake" A. Abdullah, Project Officer of The Asia Foundation mentioned the importance of an orderly and peaceful election in 2025 to ensure the ongoing process of peace and development in Bangsamoro. He also shared steps to support MILF camps and communities through livelihood programs and social services.

Atty. Yassin Bantuas Maute, Supervising Legislative Staff Officer of the Office of Deputy Minister Ali B. Solaiman,  explained the provisions of the Bangsamoro Electoral Code (BEC) and the process of the BARMM Parliamentary Election.

Macapantao I. Carim, Acting Election Officer of Piagapo, Lanao del Sur, presented the COMELEC mandate and manned the use of the new Automated Counting Machine (ACM) as part of the preparation for the May 12, 2025 National, Local, and BARMM Elections. There was an actual voting demonstration using the ACM  and Commander Bravo was among those who filled up the ballot and cast his first vote in the mock exercises conducted.

BMN Chairman Tu Alid Alfonso thanked the attendees with special mention of Commander Bravo for his support to the program. He further reiterated the appeal for peaceful and fair elections.

"Maging peaceful at walang dayaan na mangyayari, ibig sabihin halal na halalan sa Bangsamoro,” he said in Filipino.

Alfonso also shared the efforts of the BARMM Chief Minister and UBJP President Ebrahim with his counterpart to talk to the senate about the postponement and extension of the Bangsamoro Parliamentary election.

"Kung ano man ang mapagkasunduan ng ating National Government sa saktong petsa ng botohan para sa BARMM dapat nating igalang at handa kayo na lumahok,” he added.

The BMN successfully conducted voters’ education in the five MILF camps, namely Camp Badre, Camp Omar, Camp Rajah Muda, Camp Abubakar, and Camp Bilal and last to host the Voters' Education for BIAF-MILF and their Families will be Camp Bushra in Butig, Lanao del Sur this Thursday, January 30.
