They emphasized that peace in Mindanao is not an abstract political concept, but a deeply personal necessity for a student body largely comprised of the "children of conflict."
?"The story of the Bangsamoro struggle is not distant from us; it lives within our communities, our families, and our shared histories," the statement read, recalling the deep-seated scars of historical injustice, displacement, and disrupted education that have shaped generations of Mindanawons.
?The Mandate of a 'Peace University'
?The student leaders highlighted MSU’s unique institutional identity as a premier "Peace University" in the region. Rooted in a diverse and historically contested landscape, the university carries a profound moral obligation to foster peacebuilding, democratic spaces, and social cohesion.
?The statement recognized the CAB as the historic culmination of decades of negotiations, acknowledging the Bangsamoro people’s legitimate right to justice, self-determination, and meaningful autonomy. While acknowledging that implementation challenges persist, the leaders warned that any political maneuvers undermining the peace process threaten to reverse years of hard-won progress and sacrifice.
?Guarding the Future
?Expressing the growing anxieties of the youth over current political friction, the statement sent a sharp warning to contemporary decision-makers, reminding them that the younger generation will ultimately bear the consequences of today's choices.
?"As youth, we refuse to inherit a future that is cracked and wrecked by the decisions made today," the statement declared.
?The manifesto closed with a rallying cry for student organizations, youth leaders, and civil society sectors to remain vigilant, informed, and actively involved in safeguarding the gains of the GPH-MILF peace process, noting that the future of the Bangsamoro and the youth are completely inseparable.
?Linking the survival of education directly to regional stability, the leaders concluded:
