Over 1,600 Dudi-Dalga clan members gather for 3rd Grand Reunion in Nabalawag, SGA

COTABATO CITY — More than 1,600 members of the Dudi-Dalga clan gathered for their 3rd Grand Reunion in Barangay Damatulan, Nabalawag, Special Geographic Area (SGA) on May 30, 2026, bringing together relatives from Cotabato City, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, and neighboring provinces.

Anchored on the theme, “Strong Family, Strong Leadership, Strong Community,” the event aimed to strengthen kinship ties, preserve the clan’s heritage, and foster Islamic values among present and future generations.

Leadership Echoes Unity and Governance

Among the prominent guests was Mohagher Iqbal, First Vice Chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Vice President of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP). In his address, Iqbal emphasized the critical role of solid family foundations in fostering sustainable peace, unity, and holistic development across the Bangsamoro region.

The gathering was also attended by Mansur Ebrahim, a candidate for the First District of the SGA, who encouraged families to remain active partners in promoting good governance and community development; Anwar “Young Fighter” Alamada, Chairman of the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG) and a UBJP district candidate, who expressed strong support for the clan’s efforts to maintain internal solidarity and strengthen family relations, and Officials and nominees of the Alliance of Bangsamoro Tri-Peoples Party (ABoT Party), led by Samsodin Amella, who conveyed their solidarity with initiatives geared toward community empowerment and cooperation.

Honoring Roots and Spiritual Bonds

Organizers noted that the clan traces its lineage back to the 14 children of pioneers Dudi and Dalga, a line that has since flourished to include over 85 grandchildren and thousands of living descendants. One of the event organizers, Hashim B. Manticayan, highlighted that he belongs to the Salilama lineage, one of the 14 primary family branches.

To ground the event in Islamic tradition, Islamic scholar Sheikh Abdulwahab Kawilan delivered a lecture on the significance of family reunions in Islam. He emphasized the concept of ‘Silaturrahim’ (maintaining strong kinship ties) as a profound religious obligation that brings blessings, fosters longevity, and strengthens the fabric of the broader community.

Committing to the Bangsamoro Aspiration

The reunion featured lively clan presentations, formal introductions of the various generational descendants, and the honoring of family elders and leaders who have championed the unity of the Dudi-Dalga clan over the decades.

The grand reunion culminated in a solemn bai’yah (pledge of allegiance) ceremony, symbolizing the clan's collective unity, enduring commitment to justice, and unwavering support for the peaceful aspirations of the Bangsamoro people.
