SIGN BBL Movement lauds Pres Duterte, MILF for their continuing efforts to pass the BBL

OTABATO City – Members of Sustainable Initiatives of Grassroots and Networks for Bangsamoro Basic Law (SIGN BBL) lauded President Rodrigo Duterte and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) headed by Al Haj Murad Ebrahim for their continuing efforts for the passage of the Bangamoro Basic Law (BBL) during the launching of #SIGNnewBBL Movement at the ARMM’s Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Cotabato City on September 29, 2017.

In a manifesto released by SIGN BBL movement, it recognized the efforts of Duterte’s administration and the MILF for their continuing efforts, as manifested in their series of meetings undertaken September 4, 14, and 20, 2017 which led to the endorsement of BBL as an “Urgent Bill.”

They also commended Representatives Bai Sandra Sema and Ruby Sahali for taking the lead in lobbying for the Bangsamoro Transition Commission-crafted BBL to House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and Majority Leader Fariñas who ultimately agreed to sponsor the BTC’s BBL numbered House Bill No. 6475 along with about a hundred of House Representatives as co-authors.

The members of a coalition of broad networks of Bangsamoro and Filipino civil society and grassroots organizations serving Mindanao and its islands called to both members of the Senate and House of Representatives to give credence to the new BTC-crafted BBL.

#SIGNnewBBL Movement have also appealed to those who felt exhausted of the decades of waiting for lasting peace on Moro Homeland, “to withhold their frustrations and remain calm and sober, and to give chance to the peace process and the benefit of the doubt to the 1st Mindanaoan President who exercises strong leadership and political will to finally end and resolved the Mindanao Question.”

They are standing firm in the belief that the “enactment of BBL into law and eventual establishment of the envisioned Bangsamoro entity is the only effective way to suppress the rise of violent extremism and narrow-down adventurism of younger generation of the Bangsamoro so that genuine peace and development will reign in Mindanao and the whole country as well.”
