GPH-MILF PIPs hold Special Meeting in Kuala Lumpur

A Special Meeting of GPH-MILF Implementing Panels was held in Kuala Lumpur on December 14, 2017. The meeting which was attended by both Panel Chairmen, USEC Nabil A. Tan and Mohagher Iqbal concluded splendidly for having signed  documents viz a viz;  Term of Reference for the GRP- MILF Joint Communications Committee; Guidelines for the Operationalization of the Bangsamoro Trust Fund; Revised Implementing Guidelines on the Joint Communique of 6 May 2002 and a Joint Statement. 

Certification renewing the mandate of the Civilian Protection Component (CPC) of the International Monitoring Team (IMT) for two years until 14 December 2019, and welcoming the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS) as members of the IMT-CPC were also signed.

Malaysian Facilitator Dato Kamarudin Bin Mustafa in his opening statement  mentioned his gladness over  the presence of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in the recently Bangsamoro assembly, and  hopefulness for a way forward in the peace process. 

Also in attendance who witnessed the signing were members of International Contact Group namely MS. Emma Leslie- Conciliation Resources, Mr. Alex Douglas- Center for Humanitarian Dialogue, Mr. Yosuke Tamabayashi-Embassy of Japan,and  Ms. Bahar Dogan- Embassy of the Republic of Turkey.

Secretary Jess Dureza, in his message expressed his fervent wish , that the peace process will move forward, though it may not happen “one time”, but rather “piece by piece” , he hopes it will come up to a real solution of the Mindanao problem.

MILF Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim, in behalf of the MILF Central Committee, stated the leadership’s commitment for the peace process to forward and its very strong support.
