MILF Kutawato Political Committee Holds Peace Advocacy in Guindulungan

GUINDULUNGAN, MAGUINDANAO (January 07, 2018) --- The Kutawato Political Committee of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) held peace advocacy with the theme: “Understanding, and Supporting the Bangsammoro Peace Process, and the New Bangsamoro Basic Law 2017.”

The Kutawato Provincial Political Committee Vice-Chairman explained the overview of the peace advocacy that needs to be sustained by the grassroots communities.

“Peace advocacy is the best means to level off the understanding of communities of the peace process between the Government of the Philippines, and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front”, Vice-Chairman emphasized.

Prof. Esmael A. Abdula, President of Kalilintad Peacebuilding Institute (KPI) and BLMI Training Officer, said “The MILF is negotiating peace with the Philippine Government to solve the Bangsamoro Problem, and end decade-long armed conflict in Mindanao.”

“The real, and ultimate solution to the Bangsamoro Problem is to address the historical injustices against the Moro people through the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law into enabling law”, Abdula added.

Abdula said that the peace gains must be preserved to achieve long lasting peace in Mindanao.

Nasser Pulindao, Vice-President of Federation of Bangsamoro Civil Society Organizations (FBCSO) explained the status of the BBL that is set to be deliberated by Philippine Congress.

“But there are other versions filed by some Congressmen that could hinder the smooth, and early passage of the BTC-drafted BBL,” Pulindao warned.

“The MILF does not have any timeframe in her negotiation with the Philippine Government for as long as there is a way, the Moro Front will continue to engage in peace talks to achieve peace, and prosperity in Mindanao”, Pulindao said.

MILF Political Committee, BIAF senior, and field commanders, women sector, KPI staff members Abdul aziz Talib, and Khairudin Anwar, and former Maguindanao Provincial Vice-Governor, and former Guindulungan Municipal Mayor Datu Mibpanato “Antao” Midtimbang attended the peace advocacy.
