BLMI holds 2nd series of dialogue for Peace in Mindanao

COTABATO CITY. March 31, 2018. The Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BMLI) conducted a 2nd series of Dialogue for Peace in Mindanao particularly the Bangsamoro core area at Hotel Guillermo, Pagadian City from March 25 - 26, 2018.

The said activity was co - organized by MILF Peace Implementing Panel with financial assistance from Swiss Embassy and attended by middle level leaders of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF- Misuari Group) and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). 

The delegation was composed of 18 MNLF middle leaders from the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi - Tawi and Zamboanga Peninsula, and 15 middle level leaders from the MILF from the same provinces. 

Chairman Mohagher Iqbal of the MILF Peace Implementing Panel in his opening statement shared his thoughts on why there is a need for a dialogue and its importance. 

He gave an emphasis on mutual respect and understanding on all moro fronts in their quest for the Bangsamoro right to self - determination (RSD). 

He clarified that the stand of the MILF on the proposed Bangsamoro Government is inclusive considering that, " We, as Bangsamoro Nation is indivisible. "

Iqbal also argued that, " We, as Bangsamoro should be committed to peace by uniting our common interest for the good and welfare of the Bangsamoro people. "

On the part of the Moro National Liberation Front, Habib Sabrie Jul, Commanding General of Task Force Merdeka in his opening statement, " We are here because we want peace... and as a Bangsamoro we have our common aspiration for the Bangsamoro people... And by our mere presence in this event called for by Brother Iqbal... We are showing our commitment and solidarity to our brothers in the Moro Islamic Liberation Front as One Bangsamoro.      

Ustadz Awal Alih Ajanti of MNLF Basilan Province reminded the participants regarding the brotherhood in Islam. He stated that, " Whatever organization you belong as long as you adhere to the principle of Islam thru the guidance of the Qu'ran and teaching of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) will not be lost. "

 During the plenary of the dialogue,  one participants from MNLF Sulu advocated federalism over the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law. 

 Chairman Iqbal responded, " MILF supports Federalism except the question of sequencing... BBL must come first before Federalism... BBL is easy to implement because all mechanism are already present while Federalism is still in its infancy stage. "

During the culmination of the activity,  MNLF - MILF participants prepared a Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU) in support to GPH - MILF Peace Process and for the immediate passage of BTC crafted Bangsamoro Basic Law.
