COTABATO CITY. April 10, 2018. The MILF Focal Point persons led by its Team Leader Sheik Abdulhadie Gumander met for the first time MILF Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim at Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao on April 1, 2018.
The focal point persons were appointed by the MILF leadership to focus on disengagement of 1,869 child soldiers including their families in compliance with UN Charter on forbidding minors as combatants.
It aims to protect children by transforming them to be a good citizens and providing them an environment that are not prone to violence and giving them role on nation building.
The program on disengagement of children has been concluded by providing training on MILF Para - Social workers in three batches to cater the needs and gaps of social issues confronting them in line with MILF - UNICEF - CFSI partnership.
The focal point persons reported and submitted to MILF Chairman Al Haj Murad the details and update of the program and gains of just concluded activity.
Each focal point person gave their observations and recommendations related to their engagement with the international community.
Al Haj Murad reminded them that their representation to the program is institutional and not as individual considering that the focal point persons came from different agencies and committees of the MILF.
He reiterated his commitment to the United Nations Charter of not allowing below 18 years old as child warrior.
He also thanked and congratulated the focal point persons for the job well done and advised them to uphold to the international standard in engaging the international community for the bangsamoro people.
MILF Chair Al Haj Murad are open and welcome any activity related to disengaged children and their families in the near future.
