CAMP BADR, DATU ODIN SINSUAT, MAGUINDANAO (April 10, 2018) --- “We must strive hard to achieve dignified and lasting peace in Mindanao.” This was the opening statement of Castro Imran, Base Commander of 104th Base Command, Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in his message to participants during the 1st General Assembly of the Command in Datu Odin Sinsuat town.

During the said assembly of the Command, Imran urged every BIAF member to campaign in their respective communities to support the current peace process between the Philippine Government and the MILF.”

He added that BIAF has series of peace advocacies and fora in communities to level off the understanding of stakeholders on the status of Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) crafted by the Expanded Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC).

Guest speaker Professor Esmael A. Abdula, Training Officer of the Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) and President of Kalilintad Peacebuilding Institute (KPI), emphasized that the BBL is the answer to Moro peoples’ clamor to right to self-determination.”

Abdula said the BBL contains political structure that will establish a new political entity called Bangsamoro that reflects Moros’ belief, culture, customs, and traditions.

“MILF is consistent in its peace agenda with the Philippine government to pave the way for lasting peace in Mindanao,” Abdula further said.
