MANILA, May 25, 2018 - Both Houses of Congress (Senate and HoR) see the passing of Bangsamoro Basic Law ( SB 1717 and HB 6475 ) before their adjournment " sine die ".
Newly-installed Senate President Sen. Vicente C. Sotto III, and Majority Floor Leader Sen. Migs Zubiri are working against time to beat the deadline set by the President.
The same is true in the House of Representatives (HoR). Speaker Bebot Alvarez, and Majority Floor Leader Rudy Farinas also vowed to pass the same before their adjournment.
It has to be noted that the Senate had already concluded their Period of Interpellations last Wednesday, (May 23) and scheduled the Period of Amendments on Monday, May 28.
The Lower House (HoR) also conducted their caucuses to dispense with the tedious processes and finished on time.
The Senate, and the HoR have requested the President to certify the BBL as urgent to do away with the "3 Reading Principles" and can immediately proceed with the Bicameral Conference to reconcile their respective provisions of SB 1717, and HB 6475, respectively, and submit it to the President for signing into Law.
