Upi Muslim residents hold lailatul Qadr Vigil

COTABATO CITY. June 13, 2018 - The Upi Muslim Consultative Assembly (UMCA) under the leadership of its President Engr. Sukarno B.  Datukan organized a " Lailatul Qadr " vigil in cooperation with Upi Agricultural School (UAS), and Muslim Youth Fellowship (MYF) on the night of June 11, 2018 that falls on the 27th day of Blessed Ramadan of Hijra Calendar held at UAS Social Hall, Upi, Maguindanao. 

Lailatul Qadr is an optional Islamic religious vigil during the last 10 days of Ramadan where every Muslim believes that one night of Ibaadah (worship) is equivalent to one thousand months as mentioned in the Noble Quran and the Traditions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The vigil was attended by about 700 Muslim leaders, LGU and Barangay officials, and employees, line agencies and other sectors of the community that jump packed the social hall who came from different barangays. 

The activity includes the participation of Muslim children and youth reciting the Quran, and the giving of Muhadarah (Islamic reminders). 

Ustads Zulkarnain Ahmad, Board of Directors of UMCA gave a ‘muhadarah’ on the Rights of Parents towards their Children and Rights of Children towards their Parents. 

Abdullah P. Salik Jr.  Al haj, Chairman of Upi Madrasah Council, and President of the Federation of Bangsamoro Civil Society Organiz(FBCpresented an updates on the status of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), and how the legislative process works in the upcoming Bicameral conference.  It was followed by Questions and Answers on major issues provided in SB 1717, and the Substituted bill of HB 6475.      

Salik calls on the participants to support the on-going peace process, and include in their Tahajud prayer the restoration of major issues that were deleted from the CAB-based Bangsamaoro Law, and part of the final peace agreement per se that should be honored by both parties (GPH and MILF).
