MILF to Consult Stakeholders on BOL this Sunday

COTABATO CITY –The Bangsamoro masses are set to have their say this coming Sunday July 29, 2018 on the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) recently ratified by both Houses of Congress, and signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Central Committee of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) will hold a Bangsamoro Consultative Assembly at Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat Maguindanao to listen to what the general masses will say about the BOL.

Spearheading the assembly is the Administrative Department of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF)-Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) General Staff headed by Sammy Al Mansour, BIAF Chief of staff of the MILF. 

With the theme “And who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation’, the assembly is expected to gather at least 50 to 70 Thousand Bangsamoro, tribal communities or IDPs, and Migrant Settlers from all over Mindanao who will decide on the fate of the BOL, which, according to MILF leaders is 80%-90% compliant to the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro signed between the GPH and the MILF.

In an interview with MILF 1st Vice Chairman Ghadzali Jaafar by a local radio station this morning (July 26), he disclosed that high ranking officers of the MILF both from the Military and Political Committee, as well as some guests and officials from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) will attend the historic event.   

In a preparatory meeting on Tuesday, BIAF- CoS Sammy Al Mansour said “As a consultative and collective leadership, we will once again consult our people regarding the status of the peace process between the MILF and the government. It is our obligation to hear the voice of our constituents, their opinions regarding the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) as they are very important, after all, our mandates emanate from our people.” 

Working Committees formed;

To ensure the smooth and successful flow of event, different working committees are formed such as Steering Committee chaired by BIAF-CoS Al Mansour, Secretariat, headed by Central Committee Secretary Muhammad Ameen with a sub-committee on invitation and programs. 

For the media committee, it will be centralized by Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC). Important committees such as documentation, ground preparation, transportation, communications, medicals and other are also formed. 

CSO participations;

As an organization that imbibes the policy of inclusiveness in the conduct of their affairs, MILF encourages participations of all sectors of Bangsamoro, thus, the League of Bangsamoro Organizations (LBO) was given a very vital role in the assembly in reaching out to the important sectors of the society-the CSOs.

The Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Cotabato – Based LBO   with more than sixty (60) member networks is tasked to facilitate attendance of CSOs in Cotabato City and nearby areas. 

In this regards, LBO President Prof. Hashim B. Manticayan is asking all interested CSOs to provide basic details of information of their organization such as the Fullname of their head, name of Organization, Address and Contact number including Email Add or FB account   for easier dissemination and distributions of invitation letters.
