Carmen Residents hold Information Campaign on BOL

Carmen, North Cotabato- Inspired with the passage R.A. No. 11054 also known as Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), community residents of this town conducted thanksgiving kanduli and information drive on the Organic Law, originally known as Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) that was crafted by the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) on August 22, at the Transporter Fishpond Farm (TFF), Sitio Donggowan, Ugalingan, Carmen, North Cotabato.

The activity was attended by 97participants from various sectors, majority of them are farmers, fisherfolks, religious key leaders, women, including BIAF members in the locality. It aims to let residents understand the provisions of the Bangsamoro Organic Law so that they can vote yes during the Plebiscite.  

The program started with the reading of a verse from the Noble Qur’an by Ustadz Ebrahim Laguialaot. Mokamad Bituanan, member of the Local Monitoring Team (LMT) delivered the welcome remarks.

Benzar Hadji Ali congratulates the leadership of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Bangsamoro Transition Commissioner (BTC) for their untiring efforts in crafting the BOL, and its eventual enactment by Congress.

He emphasized the essence of unity among Bangsamoro People so that they can cope up with various challenges that they may encounter in the establishment of the Bangsamoro Region.

Barangay Chairman Ustadz Usop Pendi expressed his deepest thanks to the organizers for conducting the information drive.  The passage of Bangsamoro law will redound to achieving genuine peace and prosperity to everyone in the region, he added.  

Haron Bandera, Barangay Chairman of Ugalingan expressed his all-out support for the ratification of the BOL in areas that will petition for their inclusion into the Bangsamoro.

 He asked his constituents to help in their advocacy in maintaining peace and order for the greater good of everyone.

Prominent peace builders Cani Militon, Kagi Abdullah, and Usman Edris expressed their support to the Bangsamoro Organic Law.

Kagi Bok shared his experiences in the Moro struggle from the beginning up the time, there is lull in the fighting between MILF Forces and the military. 

The organization of the Moro fronts in the light of atrocities committed in the past decades by forces of evil has awakened the Bangsamoro people and led them to aspire for right to self-determination, he said.” 

“The plebiscite is very important because it will determine what areas will join the Bangsamoro,”, he added.

Aleem Nasrudin Yusof Alhaj, explained the significance of BOL in attaining peace and progress in Moro Homeland. 

He said that the upcoming Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, aside from being ministerial in form, has plenty of powers far better from the current Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Yusoph also presented a resolution released by the MILF Central Committee in reaffirming and strengthening MILF position of “hands off policy” in Philippine Elections by not participating in 2019 mid-term elections along with a resolution officially endorsing to President Rodrigo Duterte the appointment of Al Haj Murad Ebrahim as Interim Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA).

Participants suggested that the MILF Central Committee should provide template format of letter-petition that will be adopted by local leaders outside of the core territory.

Esmail Mamento, Provincial Tarbiyyah of the Kapalawan Province, emphasized in his closing remarks that the ministerial form of government for Bangsamoro provides social justice, participatory and inclusive to all, among others. He urged the Bangsamoro People to understand the BOL carefully and help in disseminating information to the people.
