CAMP DARAPANAN, SULTAN KUDARAT, MAGUINDANAO. September 4, 2018. Mohagher Iqbal, Chairman of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Peace Implementing Panel graced the Thanksgiving Kanduli for the signing of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) organized by the 9th Expeditionary Mission, Inner Guard Base Command, National Guard Front headed by Brigade Commander Bashir U. Ampat held at 4 Kids Function Hall, Crossing Simuay on August 31, 2018.
The said thanksgiving was attended by 8 Battalion commands from Dinas, Labangan, Pagadian City of Zamboanga del Sur; Malabang, Lanao del Sur; Buldon, Parang, Mamasapano, Sharif Aguak, Rajah Buayan of Maguindanao; Gensan , Polomolok, Tupi of SOCCSKSARGEN Area, and others.
The kanduli or food banquet was offered to thank the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front for the signing of R.A. 11054 known as the " Organic Law for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (OLBARMM) that will open for them the windows of opportunity to return to normal lives, to their families, and to their respective communities in the Bangsamoro.
Iqbal in his message narrated the history of Bangsamoro struggle, the gains of peace process, opportunities under the BOL, and its consequences if not ratified.
He challenged the BIAF Forces, " That in order to translate our support to BOL into a votes during the plebiscite, we have to register at the COMELEC and bear in mind that our struggle today is a political one."
"Plebiscite is not about certain individuals or personalities nor about local election. This is about our Bangsamoro aspiration. This is founded by our lives, blood and sacrifices," he stressed.
Iqbal also announced that there will be a special registration for combatants in Darapanan or at the Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) in order for them to acquire voters’ registration that the COMELEC will soon announce.
Engr. Mohammad Abobacar, Head of Assistance and Cooperation Center (ACC) who supported the event with his group said, " Thanksgiving Kanduli today is a way of manifesting our happiness in the fulfillment of the so-called negotiated political settlement that will appease the Bangsamoro people."
