MNLF, MILF Peace Dialogue Prevents Escalation of Family Feud

COTABATO CITY – The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Regional Reconciliation and Unification Commission of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (RRUC-ARMM) held a peace dialogue here on Wednesday to settle a family grudge between 2 families in the coastal town of Sultan Kudarat province.

The animosity between the group of Dimas Israel Valle and Ustadz Mursad Taya started with the killing of Mustre Aqib, Barangay Chairman of Mina, Palimbang, Sultan KUdarat province on June 26, 2018 in Sitio Pamakalen, followed by the killing of certain Tho Ayob also a resident of the said village. 

In a mediation called for by RRUC Chairman/MNLF Vice Chairman for Political Affairs Rome K. Sema with 105th Base Command Chief Ustadz Zacaria Guma, together with Coordination Committee on the Cessation of Hostility of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (CCCH-MIL) Butch Malang, and in the presence of the chairmen of different state revolutionary committees of the MNLF, the said peace dialogue resulted in an agreement that would be recognized by both parties.

In the agreement signed by both parties, they agreed to refrain from allegations and counter allegations because it will not help solve the problem.

Both clans are required to help each other, and restore coordination and cooperation between and amongst them that existed before the conflict occurred.

Ustadz Mursad Taya is required to locate the identified suspects and immediately turn it over to the leadership of 105th Base Command of MILF for custody. A thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the truth on the death of Aqib and Ayob.
