Internal Revenue Allocation for 63 Barangay sof NorthCot will continue upon Turn-over to BARMM

COTABATO CITY— Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo of the Ministry of Interior Local Government (MILG), Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) said the 63 barangays to be turned-over to the Bangsamoro region will continue receiving their Internal Revenue Allocation (IRA) from Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

“Entitlement po nila yun and it will not change. They will receive their IRA from the DBM,” Sinarimbo said.

The turn-over of 63 barangays is approved in a resolution passed by Sanguniang Panlalawigan of North Cotabato.

Today’s turn-over ceremony of the 63 barangays of North Cotabato in the municipalities of Pigcawayan, Pikit, Kabacan, Carmen, Midsayap and Aleosan said Duma Mascud, Chairman of Mindanao Alliance of Peace (MAP), and convenor of SIGN BBL movement is “historic”.

“We wait for 8 months for this turn-over after the yes vote of our constituents who favored for inclusion of their barangays in BARMM during the Bangsamoro plebiscite,” Duma said.

“We are thankful that finally our efforts in CSOs especially on the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) advocacy campaign also contributed for this historic milestone that we achieved,” he stressed.

The turn-over ceremony will be done today at Shariff Kabunsuan Complex, Cotabato City, BARMM to be led by Cotabato Acting Governor Emmylou”Lala”Taliño Mendoza and BARMM Chief Minister Alhaj Murad Ebrahim.

Most of the residents in 63 barangays are Muslims, and have strong presence of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The BARMM established based on the two agreements signed by the MILF and Philippine government, the 2012 Framework Agreement on Bangsamoro, and 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro that are products of 22 years of peace talks.

Gov. Taliño-Mendoza is expecting that peace and progress will be observed in the 63 barangays of Cotabato that are now under the BARMM administration which promotes moral governance.
